Pittsburgh Vacation

After much conversation, Steve and I decided that the best option for our trek to Pittsburgh was to drive through the night. We left home at 5pm and arrived a mere 11 hours later at 5am local time, just in time for Steve’s dad to be getting up for work. It was a bit grueling for us, but the kids slept the majority of the way (much better than screaming). Steve and I got up and got massages first thing Friday morning which helped with all of the stiffness.

Our week in Pittsburgh started out with a trip to Steve’s parent’s camp. Steve spent a lot of time there as a child and was excited to share the experience with Drew and Cole. On the Fourth we went into Altoona to watch a minor league baseball game. Drew and Pap Pap sat and watched three full innings before Drew wanted a break for a snack. Cole was so excited that he ran completely out of energy and fell asleep and the ballpark. Steve also took advantage of the opportunity to go fishing with his Dad and brother.

We headed back to Pittsburgh on Sunday and started our busy week with dinner with our good friends, the Vargos. It was so good to see them and to see home much Henry had grown. On Tuesday Steve and Chris went golfing in the morning and I the afternoon we went out on Grammy and Pap Pap’s boat. So everyone got see how good Drew and Cole are in the water.

On Wednesday we headed to Idlewilde (a local amusement park) and Drew had as absolute blast. They had an area with displays and people representing nursery rhymes. Drew and Grammy has a blast reciting nursery rhymes and visiting Mother Goose.

Thursday Steve’s Mom and I went shopping and then Steve and his Dad went fishing. We thought it would be a good idea to let the kids relax before our big trip home.

Around noon on Friday we packed up and headed to Detroit to visit my friend Teane from college and her family. We had such a nice time. I really wish we lived closer.

The drive back was relatively uneventful and I even got to stop at IKEA on the way home.
